Recently, China's garment industry has undergone a profound transformation and upgrading, with the rise of new quality productivity becoming a crucial force driving high-quality development in the industry. This trend was fully demonstrated at several recent industry events.
At the 2024 China Garment Industry Conference, which recently concluded, participants discussed ways to stimulate innovation through deepening industrial transformation. With the theme of "Deepening Industrial Transformation and Stimulating Innovative Vitality," the conference released the 2024 China Garment Industry Operation Report, sharing innovative methods and practical experiences for developing new quality productivity. Data shows that from January to August 2024, China's garment industry experienced recovery growth in economic performance, with production remaining generally stable. Domestic sales growth slowed, but structural adjustment emerged as an important阶段性feature. Export volumes remained relatively stable.
Meanwhile, in Northeast China, the 2024 China (Northeast) International Textile, Garment, and Printing Industry Expo was successfully held in Haicheng Xiliu. The Expo attracted more than 100 textile, garment, and printing enterprises from across the country and over 2,000 buyers. It showcased the latest products and technologies, including intelligent sewing machines, advanced embroidery equipment, digital printing equipment, and eco-friendly printing materials. The successful Expo not only provided vast opportunities for transformation and upgrading for textile and garment enterprises in Northeast China but also displayed the latest achievements of China's garment industry in digitalization, intelligence, and green development.
In addition, China's textile and apparel industry has made significant progress in the research and development, manufacturing, and consumer ends. In R&D, enterprises have developed new fabrics and materials, such as the ultra-fiber suede products launched by Zhejiang Meisheng New Materials Co., Ltd., which not only have the appearance and texture of genuine leather but also offer higher light fastness, wear resistance, and heat and humidity resistance. In manufacturing, intelligence and digitalization levels have rapidly improved, as exemplified by the smart factory of Shandong Weiqiao Entrepreneurial Group's special wide-width printing and dyeing company, which has achieved full-process digital management in printing and dyeing, significantly increasing production efficiency and reducing energy consumption. In consumption, new brands and channels have emerged continuously, with new e-commerce formats and models such as live streaming sales and instant retail driving the steady release of online textile and apparel consumption.
Sun Ruizhe, President of the China National Textile And Apparel Council, pointed out that developing new quality productivity is an intrinsic requirement and important focus for promoting high-quality development. New quality productivity refers to advanced productivity characterized by high-tech, high efficiency, and high quality, underpinned by innovation and in line with new development concepts, while breaking away from traditional economic growth patterns and productivity development paths. For the garment industry, new quality productivity is not only reflected in technological productivity but also in fashion productivity and green productivity.
In the future, with the increasing global awareness of environmental protection and diversifying consumer demands, China's garment industry will continue to deepen its transformation and upgrading, strengthen technological innovation and brand building, and promote the industry towards a more environmentally friendly, intelligent, and fashionable direction.
